The proposal, passed to Iran by Pakistani and Qatari mediators and confirmed by Iran&rsquo;s Foreign Ministry on Sunday, remains unanswered. US forces conducted additional strikes overnight against Iranian positions along the Strait of Hormuz. Iran&rsquo;s Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed its own operations. Neither government has announced progress toward an agreement.</p> <p>The practical situation in the strait hasn&rsquo;t changed materially since the conflict resumed on July 7, when Washington declared the Islamabad Memorandum over and CENTCOM began its current strike campaign. <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2026/7/10/strait-of-hormuz-shipping-grinds-to-halt-as-us-iran-resume-fighting">Al Jazeera has tracked the shipping collapse closely</a>: before the war, roughly 130 vessels crossed through the strait each day. Since fighting resumed, that traffic has been near-zero.
